I was introduced to yoga when I took a college course in the early 2000’s…yes, years ago! I remember the professor’s constant demeanor of being cool, calm, and collected despite repeatedly asking the same students to stop talking. I bring up the professor’s demeanor to say how yoga has helped me.

Through my continued yoga practice, it has helped me:

1.    Find and remain calm by using my breath

2.    Self-connect physically and mentally with movement

3.    Feel collected with my thoughts to better interact with others

Then about 10 years ago, while I was happily taking another class my inner voice inspired me to teach others yoga. It was clear as day, this is what I need to do. If I can pass on what I have learned to at least 1 person, this will be helpful. The above-mentioned are amazing benefits of a yoga practice. During my practice these are some props that I found and still find helpful:

1.    A yoga mat (this is your main prop)

2.    Yoga blocks (helpful for balancing or supporting hand-to-floor)

3.    A yoga strap or a mid-sized towel folded in 3rds (to help assist tight arms/legs in poses)

If you debate about using any of these, for sure use a yoga mat.   The best go-to yoga mat for beginners is on my website, it is thinner and works well for seasoned yogis, too. Hoping you, too will find your way to being calm and collected, too!
